So what in the world
is MADjam?
Mid Atlantic Dance Jam is all about West Coast Swing, Hustle &
Hand Dancing. It's a four day long party that combines exciting dance
contests, workshops and tons of fun social dancing.
Well over 1200 dancers of all ages and skill levels participate. It's a
truly magical experience unmatched anywhere
in the Mid Atlantic. Many contests are offered in 3 different styles of swing dancing with divisions
for everyone, newcomers through professional. There are more than 40 dance workshops
led by the most sought after talents anywhere. Whether you are a new beginner
or have been dancing for decades, this is an extraordinary opportunity to
learn from the best teachers on the planet all in one place. The social dancing is as good as it gets.
Parties go till dawn each night in both ballrooms. Dancers come from every part of
the country. It's like no other dance party you've seen. Over a dozen
deejays from different cities provide a great variety of music you'll enjoy.
Our purpose is to have a
great time each year by.......
- Sharing a passion for swing dancing with other enthusiastic
dancers.
- Getting together with old friends and making new ones.
- Become better dancers by
learning from the best instructors.
- Enjoy watching the best of the best compete for cash and
prestigious awards.
- Above all else we want every dancer that participates at MADjam
to be inspired to continue dancing and share this passion with others.
How did the MADjam begin?
MADjam has evolved and grown remarkably each year with a history
of successful annual events. The contests and prize money offered, size
of the pro staff and overall participation has expanded tremendously
since the first year. Visit the history
page to learn more about MADjam's evolution.
Contest Affiliations
MADjam is one of many national swing dance
competitions that follows guidelines established by the World Swing dance
council. It is a registry event that uses a point system to determine
the level each dancer is qualified to enter in the West Coast Swing Jack & Jill contests. MADjam
is also a member
of the International Hustle Dance Association. We believe that standardizing
rules, definitions and level entry criteria is good for event organizers
and good for the competitors. MADjam is licensed by ASCAP, BMI and SESAC
through the National Fast Dance Association.
